1. Agreement to these terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CupboardMate mobile application (the "App") and this website (together, the "Service"), operated by CupboardMate ("we", "us"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. The Service
CupboardMate is a pantry-management app that helps you track the food you have at home, monitor expiry dates, and build shopping lists. The App works offline and stores all of your data locally on your device — see our Privacy Policy for details.
3. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the App on devices you own or control, for personal, non-commercial use. This license is for your use only — you may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the App.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except where permitted by applicable law.
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems.
- Remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices.
5. Your data
All pantry data you enter into the App is stored locally on your device and belongs to you. We have no access to it. You are responsible for backing up your device; if you delete the App or lose your device, we cannot recover your data.
6. Intellectual property
The Service — including its design, branding, text, graphics, and software — is owned by CupboardMate and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.
7. Expiry dates and food safety
The App helps you track expiry dates that you enter. It is an organizational tool, not a food-safety authority. Reminders may be inaccurate, delayed, or missed. Always use your own judgment — and the information printed on product packaging — when deciding whether food is safe to eat. We accept no responsibility for spoiled food, illness, or any other harm arising from reliance on the App.
8. Availability and changes
We may update, change, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part of it) at any time without notice. We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CupboardMate shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim (or, if you paid nothing, €10).
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or statutory consumer rights.
11. App store terms
If you download the App from the Apple App Store or Google Play, the terms of those platforms also apply. Apple and Google are not parties to these Terms and have no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the App.
12. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the App. We may terminate or suspend your license if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to highlight it.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the Swedish courts, with Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) as the court of first instance, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
If you are a consumer residing in the EU or EEA, you retain the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. Consumers in Sweden may also refer disputes to the Swedish National Board for Consumer Disputes (Allmänna reklamationsnämnden, ARN), arn.se, Box 174, 101 23 Stockholm.
